Updated 10th May 2018
Our leading OHSAS 18001 consultants assist organizations throughout the UK to obtain full certification. The management of Health and Safety is becoming a growing priority in the UK: recent figures from the Health and Safety Executive indicate that there were 137 fatalities in the period 2016/17, and although the figure is falling, there is constant pressure to continue this trend.
From the point of view of your own business, quite apart from the human cost involved, such incidents create bad publicity and subsequent loss of reputation, so it makes sound business sense to establish a safety management system
The first global standard for health and safety management ISO 45001 was finally published on the 12th March 2018 and is a cause for celebration for health and safety professionals. It has been designed to integrate with other ISO management systems standards, ensuring a high level of compatibility with the new versions of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
Although published; UKAS certification is not yet available in this standard with certification bodies required to achieve UKAS certification to certify this by the 12th March 2020. This will mean that everyone will need to be assessed to ISO 45001 by the 12th March 2021 with OHSAS 18001 no longer in place after this date. For more information on ISO 45001 please click here
What is OHSAS 18001?
This certicate is intended to help businesses control occupational Health and Safety risks.
It was developed in response to a widespread demand for a recognised standard of certification, and integrates well with other ISO standards. It is set to become ISO 45001 in 2018 and it is expected that demand will increase once this standard is published. However, if you already have OHSAS 18001 you will immediately transition over to the new standard once it is finally published.
It is a framework that allows a business to consistently identify and control its Health and Safety risks, reduce the potential for accidents and legal issues, and improve overall performance.

OHSAS 18001 Certification with JR Consultants
We will work with you to design, document, implement and operate a simple Health and Safety management system that meets all the requirements.
We will design the system around your existing Health and Safety practices where ever possible, including the completion of risk assessments as necessary. We will help you to establish the necessary controls to ensure you are in compliance with relevant legislation, help you to identify the areas of your business which do not comply to the 18001 standard, and redesign them with minimal disruption to your operation.
After the system has been implemented, we will recommend you for the initial audit visit from an external assessment body. We will then arrange for your system to be fully audited by one of our own auditors, and the final OHSAS 18001 external assessment will take place within 3 months of the initial audit visit (depending upon the external assessment body).
