"I have been involved in Quality Management for as long as I can remember! I first started as a quality manager for a local business, in those days quality management was referred to as BS 5750 (remember that ?) I have seen many changes over the years: quality management has evolved to meet current demands and regulations and to bring it in line with good business practice, thus making it much more important to achieve certification. Now with the standard at ISO 9001:2008, it is a common business tool. Being with JR Consultants since the beginning has been exciting. We have grown year after year, and continues to do so with more services on offer than ever before! We have now helped over 250 businesses to achieve accreditation, and this figure increases each year. I hope you find the information on this website useful, but please, if you have any questions feel free to contact us and we will be happy to answer them for you. As far as hobbies go….I spend time on the M25 (I think I spend more time there than I do at home !!)
I grew up never knowing what it was my dad actually did as a job. I can remember delivering leaflets for him at a young age, but to me, then, it was just a game. Now I find myself going into businesses and auditing their systems that enquired because of that leaflet I posted years ago! At that point I was helping him expand his business, I just didn’t know it. It wasn’t until I was in my last years at school that I finally found out what the ISO standards were, and understood how they worked and how they could benefit a business, more so now than ever before. After I left college, I worked in TK Maxx, and after a short period of time I was promoted to Customer Services Manager, responsible for the day to day running of Customer Services. My responsibilities also included carrying out appraisals for my customer service team, and it was here that I learnt the concept of Investors in People. I never expected to have successfully completed all my Lead Auditor qualifications for ISO9001, ISO14001 and BS OHSAS 18001. I have now been into many of our clients, auditing their systems so that my Dad can put his feet up and relax !! As for hobbies ... I enjoy playing football, and play for my local team, Benfleet Ladies FC. I also enjoy going to my local pub, socialising, and going to Newquay in the summer months to catch a little surf!"
I too, like my sister, remember the evenings spent folding flyers, and the Sunday mornings spent running round industrial estates, racing each other to get to that letter box! You see, back then we were paid pennies for every leaflet delivered and £10 (I think) for any recommendation that came as a result of that leaflet. Unfortunately it’s not that simple now, but I think that even then I knew I would end up getting involved in the business (and I think that secretly Dad hoped we would too !) So, when I finished college and after spending 6 months in Menorca as a kid’s club representative for First Choice I knew it was time to take the plunge and get involved! As a result I have successfully completed my lead auditor courses in all of ISO9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001 and have taken a much greater interest in Health and Safety. Now I also have my NEBOSH General Certificate and my NEBOSH Diploma, a graduate member of IOSH and am currently developing my CPD to become a Chartered Member. If you had asked me when I was at college what I wanted to do with the rest of my life, I would never have predicted that I would be doing what I am now. But, I thoroughly enjoy helping businesses working towards the ISO standards and enjoy the challenges I face on a day to day basis. As far as Hobbies go…. I am a keen hockey player and play for my local team Basildon Ladies, cooking, reading and also enjoy attending the gym when I get a free minute!"
"I worked for a major bank for 31 years, and in my final years I was an Operations Manager responsible for a large branch and six sub-branches. One of my principal responsibilities was ensuring that all legal requirements and procedures were complied with. After retiring from the bank I was happy to accept the offer of working for JR Consultants. I really enjoy helping business to obtain the ISO standards and undertaking audits to ensure there are no major problems raised during future visits from assessment bodies. As for Hobbies I enjoy reading, gardening and supporting Canvey Island Football Club !"
"I joined JR Consultants in 2006 after retiring early from Bradwell Nuclear Power Station where I worked for 27 years as a Team Leader. My work experience has showed me the benefits and advantages from having good quality procedures and practices in place. I enjoy taking this knowledge and applying it to the variety of situations I am placed in, thus helping companies and business achieve the ISO standards. I am trained to audit ISO 9001, 14001 and have recently completed my NEBOSH General cettificate to give me the knowledge to audit OHSAS 18001 systems as well. I very much enjoy meeting new people and in my spare time I play golf, go to the Gym and riding my motorbike in the dry and sunny weather!"
"I joined JR Consultants on a part time basis after I took retirement from my previous job, approximately 6 years ago. My job now is very similar to what it was in my previous capacity, however the difference is now I meet lots of new people and face a variety of industries which is far more interesting. As for hobbies, my children have had their children, so I try to spend as much time with my grand children now as I can whilst they are still young."
"I joined JR Consultants in 2008, after being made redundant from my previous job when the company was sold to venture capitalists. I worked in the portable accommodation hire industry for 35 years, rising to Divisional Manager with one of the largest companies in its field, and responsible for five depots nationwide. At one point this included involvement with the old BS 5750, as well as preparing risk assessments and method statements for the installation of large modular buildings. Working for JR Consultants gives me the opportunity to meet, and help people from many industries, and gain an insight into what they do during the auditing process and no two visits are the same. As for hobbies, my main past time is sailing, and I like to spend as much time as possible on the Norfolk Broads where I keep my boat, however I also enjoy fishing, cycling, reading and attempting (not very successfully) to fly model helicopters !"
"I have worked for JR Consultants since 2003, and have now worked my way up to Office Manager. My role predominantly is organising the diary for everybody, so every day to me is a challenge as the office here can be very busy at times, however this is what I love best. It has definitely got busier as time has gone on and as we are offering more services, which means my job never lacks new things to learn, and to do ! As for Hobbies, I am a volunteer for my local Brownie pack and am also a keen follower of the grand prix, and will try and watch a race whenever I can."
"After 3 years of working in retail, I decided I wanted something a little more local and a job that was a few less days a week. In 2006 I joined JR Consultants as an administration assistant; I am now responsible for the accounts side of the business, which includes my favorite past time: chasing outstanding payments ! As for Hobbies, I enjoy going to the theatre, being pampered as much as I can, and shopping."
"I joined JR Consultants around 10 years ago. My job here is varied; i organise our auditors' work every week and chase our quotations which I enjoy as I love talking to people. I also do normal daily tasks such as answering the phone, making tea, etc ! Our office is always hectic and sometimes can be stressful but that's the fun ... it's never the same from one day to the next, and that's why i enjoy being part of a good team. I previously worked in customer service for a large clothing retailer, so learned many of my customer service skills there. I was responsible for dealing with returns, exchanges and problems for which the time just flew by; I am used to a busy environment. As for hobbies outside work, I do not really have any particular hobbies but I enjoy shopping, and going on holidays ... I mean, who wouldnt ?! I also enjoy socialising with my family and friends."
